I Verdi Ramarro'ssi accettano l'invito della lega dell'Indian Himalaya Calciotto
Dal nostro corrispondente nello Zanskar, Garry Weare
Over the last decade so many teams have extended their training programs from Nepal to the Indian Himalaya. The Indian Himalaya Calciotto League have a file of recommended organisations to invite. Points to bear in mind when considering your team include its experience in football trips to India. You could of course try to bypass the overseas travel agents and deal directly with the local team. This can be done by writing to the Indian Himalaya Calciotto League who willbe able to supply you with the matches you have scheduled.
You must, however, be aware of the problems of dealing with a culture and tattics that are vastly different from that of the West.
Clothing considerations differ widely from match to match: in all mountain areas you should be prepared for inclement weather. If someone of you playing exclusively in India, a local tailor can make up a pair of shorts and comfortable long trousers in an afternoon.
To help you, consider the follow checklist:
- walking boots
- jacket
- down vest
- whool shirt or pullover
- breeches
- over trousers
- shorts
- shirts
- termal underwear
- gloves
- socks
- sandshoes
- sunheat
- snow gaiters
- sunglasses
- water bottle
- swiss army knife
- first aid kit
- torch
- sleeping bag (for the overtime)
Also you have to consder any healt problems:
- Respiratory problems
- sinusitis
- bronchitis
- pneumonia
- cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
- head and spinal injury
- fratcures
- skeletal problems
- Sahib's knee
- lacerations
- vomiting
- shock
- death
In case of point 13, don't panic and don't shake the player or shout at them: clear airway, try mouth-to-mouth and the least but not the last ... heart massage!
